Residual

Residual is a project about artistic interventions in Mexico City that takes place during the months from June to September 2010. The proposal addresses the problem of garbage from different points of view and aims to raise awareness among residents about the shared responsibility associated with its generation and management.

The eight interventions come from artists who live and work in Mexico and Germany, and present different alternatives for the solution of this serious problem. The projects take place through the interaction with the community, and also as a collaboration with a multidisciplinary group of university experts. They are all embedded in the social context of the city and use targeted strategies to encourage a change of attitude that also impact on the recovery of public spaces and the quality of life of those who use them.

Residual takes place in different areas of the Cuauhtémoc District in Mexico City: the Museo Universitario de Ciencias y Artes (MUCA Roma), the Museo del Estanquillo, the Antiguo Atrio de San Francisco, Casa Vecina and the esplanade of the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MuAC).
