Alec Finlay exploring the early history of modern day wind power

This piece, skying: Costa Head, Orkney, by Alec Finlay takes us back to the earliest days of modern wind power in Orkney in the mid 1950s.  It’s odd because wind power has been used for thousands of years, but here we have the first modern iteration aimed at generating electricity, rather than grinding corn.  It seems remote in so many ways.
